Dresden Plates Made Easy

Thanks to Donna, I got this great link to a site that shows you how to make a Dresden Plate pattern quite simply! The site is called SEWN (http://www.sewn.net.au/) and it has great ideas and inspirations for all kinds of projects, but this Dresden Plate pattern is too cute and easy too! Once again, thanks Donna for the info. and thanks to SEWN for the great pattern! If someone uses this pattern soon let me know how it goes, maybe even send some pictures!

I'm Back!

So, I took a small leave of absence the past week or two...I have had so much going on in my life and have been working on a few new quilts to share with you. I will try not so be gone for so long in the future and I will do my best to keep the quilts coming! I have just finished my friend Hilary's baby quilt for her shower coming up in a few weeks and as soon as she sees it then I will be sure to share it with everyone else, but I don't want to spoil the surprise by posting it early! I have three more quilts that need to be quilted and I will be trying to get those cranked out in the next 2-3 weeks! I just started cutting on a scrappy log cabin pattern yesterday that is going to be a huge challenge for me (it has sooo many tiny pieces!). So, as you can see, there are many great things to come! Keep on quilting! Love all, Tina.

Mom's Quilt

I made this quilt for my mom in Oct. 2008. It was a birthday gift to her and the first quilt that I made all by myself, minus the quilting. It is made out of Moda fabric, I believe it is called "Peace on Earth." It is a traditional turning twenty and it fits a queen size bed. The quilting was done by Jan but I am not sure what design she used. My mom still has it on her bed today so maybe its time she get another one!

Kim's Bugs

This is a quilt that I bought at the Austin Quilt Show in 2008. It is all Moda Flutterby and I used the Turning-Twenty pattern out of the book Turning Twenty By Tricia Cribbs. This is just a picture of the quilt top, I will have to get Kim to bring the finished quilt by my house so I can get some pictures of it finished! It turned out really cute and I quilted it myself on Liz's long-arm using the pantograph Popcorn. This was my first time to quilt using a pantograph and I really liked it!

Turning-Twenty for Kim

Here is the Turning-Twenty Pattern that you asked for, it is from the book Turning Twenty by Tricia Cribbs. This is easy and so much fun, it never gets old!

Kaffe Fassett Strips

This quilt pattern was made by Liz Jones which she calls Molly's Strips. It is 3.5" strips cut at whatever length that you would like and then sewn end to end like a giant jelly-roll. Then you simply cut the first strip as long as you would like the length of the quilt and then start sewing along down each new strip. Up and down the quilt rather, if that makes it easier to understand. I picked all of these fabrics made by Kaffe Fassett, probably my favorit fabric ever! Liz sewed because once again, this was before I was comfortable on the machine. This quilt was also sent off to be quilted, but I am not sure by whom. This is probably my second favorit quilt other than my reproduction squares. The back fabric is Kaffe Fassett Lotus Leaf and it is AMAZING!

Pattern for Ringo's Quilt

Here is the pattern that I came up with for Ringo's Quilt. This make a very small square quilt for a very small dog, no larger than maybe 5lbs. Hope you enjoy!

4 A Blocks from a traditional Turning-Twenty Quilt

Ringo's Quilt

This little quilt was something that I came up with when I was digging through Liz's scraps that she had left over from some Turning-Twenty quilts that she was making out of fabric that she purchased in San Francisco from an organic fabric store that Emma worked at. I wanted to make a small quilt for my Yorkie Ringo and my boy friend's sister Emma's Yorkie Chloe. So I took 4 A Blocks and twisted them around in 4 different directions and ended up with this little guy. This was also the first thing that I quilted on Liz's long-arm and when I really fell in love with quilting! I believe most of the fabrics are organic except for the back which is brown fleece that I bought at Hancock Fabrics. Ringo and Chloe both love their quilts!

Old Yeller and Blue

This is one of the first quilts that I had a hand in making. I picked the pattern (which I can no longer remember what it is, sorry) and the fabric that was to go into it. At the time I did not sew so Liz (Jason's mom) sewed the pieces together to form the top while I cut and placed them how I wanted them. This quilt was made sometime around Dec. 2006 and was sent off to be quilted by a lady in Temple, TX, not sure of her name. This is still one of my favorit quilts and I get compliments on it to this day. Thanks Liz!

Update Already

So, as you can see, I've already changed somethings on here. I just felt that it needed a little more sophistication...whether or not I've achieved that?!? Either way, I'm happy with how it's looking and hope ya'll are too! Let me know what you think! Oh, and lets get some creative talk going on around here, after all, that's what this thing is for!

Purl Soho!

I just bought some fabric from Purl Soho today that is sooo cute! Its kinda vintage looking and will probably have to be used for a childs quilt but I couldn't pass it up. They had some great deals under their sale fabric...go check it out! The link is to the right under Favorit Fabrics!

Kim and Tina's Reproductions

These quilts were made out of 5" squares that we cut from scrap reproduction feed sack fabric that was Aunt Jan's. We made them one weekend and bought the backs from "A Sewing Basket" in Salado, TX. We quilted them on Liz's quilting machine thanks to Jan's help and Kim and I had our first "quilting day" ! Kim's is the one with the yellow border and mine is the one with the turquoise border.

The First of Many...

  • So, it begins. The journey of finding myself through heaps of fabric, thread, and pins has been fun so far but it is time to take this trip to the next level! I'm not sure what will come of this blogging business but my hope is to find that special group of people out there who are dedicated to creating our own works of art right out of our spare bedrooms, garages, and dinning rooms. Maybe we will share our inspirations, fears, tricks, and fumbles. Whatever direction this goes I just hope to learn a bit about sharing in my experiences with others and learning to take in all that is around me, and from this, make something worth while.
